2nd Grade

MPES Second Grade

Jessy Hay

I’m Jessy Hay and I am excited to start my 16th year of teaching in Maury County Schools.  Starting my career at Culleoka Unit school for 5 years, I transferred to Mt. Pleasant Elementary School in the fall of 2005 to be closer to home and to be able to teach the children of Mt. Pleasant. I have been at MPES for 11 years and have taught 2nd and 3rd grade during that time. Being a graduate of MPHS, it was important to me to be involved in our community and give back to the little town that I love. I graduated from Middle Tennessee State University with my bachelor's in Elementary Education in 2000 and continued with my schooling at Tennessee State University for my Master's in Administration and Supervision. After college I moved back to Mt. Pleasant with my high school sweetheart, Michael Hay, because we wanted to start our family and have our children grow up in a place like Mt. Pleasant. Michael has been a Mt. Pleasant police officer for 13 years and is the Mt. Pleasant Chief of Police. We have 2 children 15 year old Madi, a sophomore at MPHS, and 12 year old Connor, a 7th grader at MPMS. Both are very active in sports such as cheerleading, football, softball, and baseball. Typically during any of those seasons, you can find me at a ball field cheering on my kids and the Mt. Pleasant Tigers.

For as long as I could remember I have always wanted to be a teacher and instill the love of learning in children. I teach my students by exploration and investigation of new topics and create a love of reading, writing, and math. Through hands on activities and interactive learning, my students are engaged and ready to learn but have fun the whole time! I look forward to working with your 2nd grader and can't wait for a most memorable year of growing and learning!

Rebecca Williams James

My name is Rebecca Williams James and I have been teaching since January 1999. I graduated from Middle Tennessee University with a B.S. in Interdisciplinary Studies: certified 1st – 8th grades. I completed my Masters in Administration and Supervision from Tennessee State University. I love seeing the sparkle in every child’s eyes when they learn something new. Teaching, to me, does not just include academics. I will provide a safe and inviting environment with the comfort of sharing new ideas and celebrating all students.

I’ve lived in Maury County my entire life and enjoy every aspect of The Mule Capitol. My faith is first in my life and I enjoy everything about my 3 boys. I can be found on the sidelines of many sports cheering them on.

I look forward to another great year at Mt. Pleasant Elementary. Thank you for sharing your sweet child with me. I will join you in creating success for him/her.

Cyndy Norgord

Hello! I am Cyndy Norgord and I cannot wait to start my 22nd year teaching, my second in second grade.  I have been a teacher at MPES since 2009 and in Maury County since 2004.  Prior to moving to Tennessee I taught in Sarasota County Florida, which is also where I attended and graduated from the University of South Florida/Sarasota.  I recently completed my Master's degree and am eager to use some of my learnings in my upcoming classroom.  I am the parent of three, Alexis (MTSU) who lives and works in Denver; Kali (Martin Methodist) who is living and working in Nashville; and Mikael who will be attending APSU in the fall.  I am also the pet parent to two dogs, one cat, and two horses.  I cannot wait to meet my new class and help lead them to love learning as much as I love to teach and learn!
